Admissions
Application Dates
The WMU Exercise Physiology program requires students to start the program in the Fall semester.
The deadline to apply for the Fall 2012 semester is Friday, March 2, 2012. All application materials must be received by this date. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed for possible admissions.
Application Requirements
Applicants must have an earned bachelor's degree in exercise science or a related science-based academic area at the time of admissions. Applicants who do not have a bachelor's degree in exercise science or a related area should contact the Graduate Coordinator prior to submitting his or her application. The following pre-requisites are required to be considered for admissions:
Applicants must submit GRE General Test scores by the application deadline.
Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation. At least one (but preferably two) of these letters should come from individuals who are familiar with the applicant in an academic setting.
Applicants must submit an up-to-date resume or curriculum vita.
Applicants must submit a "Personal Statement". This statement should include a description of the applicant's academic preparedness for graduate work in exercise physiology, career goals, and why the applicant has chosen to apply to the WMU Exercise Physiology program.

International Applicants
Applications from international students are initially processed by the Office of International Student Services (OISS) at WMU. Please visit their website at http://www.wmich.edu/oiss for more information. All required application materials may be sent directly to OISS. Once your application materials are complete, OISS will forward your information to the HPER Department for review.
Admission Decisions
The decision on admissions into the program will be based on the applicant's previous academic performance (GPA), GRE General Test scores, and the strength of the personal statement and letters of recommendation.
Graduate Teaching Assistantships
The HPER Department offers graduate teaching assistantships. Follow this link to download a type-able PDF GA Assistantship Application Form.
Graduate assistantships include a partial tuition waiver and a competitive stipend. HPER Department Graduate Assistants teach within the Health and Wellness program and may assistant in undergraduate courses with a laboratory component.
