The Center for the Humanities is extremely invested in providing resources and programs for the students at Western Michigan University. Whenever possible, we try to include students in special sessions with our guest speakers to help engage them in our mission. Past events have included special lectures, brown-bag lunches, and open discussions.
The Western Michigan University Center for the Humanities and the Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC) invite submissions to the Graduate Humanities Conference to be held Friday, February 14, 2014 on campus. The Conference invites proposals from all graduate students at WMU. We will consider any submissions related to the humanities—but papers and panels addressing the 2013-2014 Humanities Center theme, Changing Climates, are particularly welcome.
For information about the 2013-2014 University Center for the Humanities Changing Climates theme and speaker series visit: http://www.wmich.edu/humanities/
Eligibility: The conference is open to currently enrolled graduate students at WMU.
Proposals should be submitted here.
The deadline to submit a proposal is January 24, 2014 and completed papers must be submitted by February 7, 2014. Presenters will be contacted by e-mail to confirm receipt of the completed proposal as well as conference acceptance.
The faculty serving as respondents will select two outstanding submissions to be awarded a cash prize and publication in the Hilltop Review. The first place prize will be $500, and the second place prize will be $300. The submissions will be published in the Spring 2014 edition of the Hilltop Review.
