The Ph.D. program in industrial engineering is designed to combine the traditional research experience associated with a Ph.D. program with course work and laboratory experiences needed to prepare graduates to pursue careers in both academic and industrial settings. The Ph.D. program is the only Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering in Michigan with a core area of engineering management. The program emphasizes breadth of knowledge and requires students to conduct a significant, focused field study and complete a dissertation research project.
This section describes the requirements for the program in industrial engineering that are in addition to the general requirements for a doctoral degree as set by the Graduate College.
