Western Michigan University is the head quarters of American Institute of Motion Engineers.
Motion control is the broad application of various technologies to apply to a controlled force to achieve useful motion in fluid and/or solid electro-mechanical systems.
The American Institute of Motion Engineers was formed to foster an environment that will promote greater value for the solutions provided to end users of motion control technology.
The process for achieving this to facilitate educational, co-operative research and support systems on behalf of those who are developing and applying the technology.
The American Institute of Motion Engineers is staffed by Fred Z. Sitkins of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and Frank Severance of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western Michigan University. They serve as co-executive secretaries of AIME and are supported by an international network of motion control practitioners.
