International Registered Student Organizations

Western Michigan University hosts hundreds of registered student organizations, many of which have an international theme or focus. Some groups showcase other cultures, some function as student unions for specific countries/regions, and some groups exist to host international events. Anime Addicts (AA)

A group for all those that love anime, manga, and the parts of culture they influence. Check out their Facebook or GoRSO group for more information.

 

 

Arab Student Association

The goal of Arab Cultural Society is to showcase and open the Arab society to all students around campus. Check out their GoRSO page.

 

Bronco African Students Association

To promote a greater understanding of African traditions and increase unity among students attending Western Michigan University regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion. Check out their Facebook or GoRSO page.

 

 

 

Campus Activities Board

The Campus Activities Board focuses on bringing diverse entertainment for the enjoyment and pleasure of the students of WMU including concerts, comedians, movies, special events, cultural events and anything in between. Check out their Facebook and GoRSO page.

 

 

Cordao de Ouro at Western Michigan University

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines music, dance, acrobatic movements and martial-art techniques. If you are looking to get in shape, become more disciplined, or just have fun, there is a spot reserved for you. Check out their GoRSO page.

 

 

 

Dominican Student Organization

The DSO is intended to share and promote the Dominican culture and values with the WMU community, we seek to nurture and support a cultural and diverse awareness in collaboration with the University, its student organizations and the community. Check out their Facebook page and GoRSO page.

 French Club at WMU

Hillel at Western Michigan University

Bringing Jewish Life to Campus at Western Michigan University is our main goal. On a biweekly basis Hillel provides Shabbat dinners that bring together the student community with a special meal and inviting atmosphere. Check out their Facebook page and GoRSO page.

 

 

Indian Student Association

The Indian Student Association exists to integrate the Indian  community at Western Michigan University. ISA represents the Indian culture, promotes unity among its members and the community at large. ISA also helps new Indian students conform to WMU life. Check out their GoRSO page.

 

 

 

 

 

Indonesian Overseas Association

International Programs Council

International Programs Council is a student organization dedicated to promoting cross-cultural understanding through organizing campus-wide events in addition to hosting occasional social activities. IPC is open to all students. Check out their Facebook page and GoRSO page.

 

 

Japan Student Organization

Malaysian Student Association at Western Michigan University

Middle Eastern Dance Club

Middle Eastern Dance Club is dedicated to teaching anyone willing to learn Middle Eastern and other styles of belly dance and works hard to not just tone and strengthen the body but also to have fun doing it. Check out their GoRSO page.

 

 

 

 Muslim Students' Association

The Muslim Students’ Association shall promote the interests of and understanding among the Muslim and non-Muslim community of Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo; thereby enhancing the academic, personal, social, and cultural well-being of WMU.  Pakistani Student Association (PSA)

Persian Student Organization (PSO)

The purpose of this organization is to establish a strong network of students from Iran, the United States, and other countries in order to introduce Iranian cultural heritage to people at Western Michigan University with an emphasis on the similarities between different nationalities.  Feed My Starving Children Movement

18,000 children die from starvation every day. Feed My Starving  Children strives to end world hunger by packing life-saving meals to people in need in over 70 countries. Taiwanese Student Association (TWSA)

This organization consists of students who are from Taiwan, and helps to promote the social networking among the students, and promote understanding of culture in Taiwan. Check out their GoRSO page.

 

Thai Student Association (TSA)

A Multi-cultural organization which provides the overview of  Thai culture, language, etc. The organization is fully committed to serving students who are interested in learning about Thailand and being a center for members to communicate among all. Check out their GoRSO page.

 

 

The Arabic Language Klub (TALK)

TALK, functions to advance members’ competency in the  Arabic language and provide resources for academic and occupational success. Further, TALK also promotes cultural awareness regarding Arab society. Additionally, the organization operates to foster a sense of community among members. Turkish Student Association (TurkSA)

The Association of Vietnamese Students at Western (AVSW)

The purpose of the AVSW is to provide Vietnamese students at Western Michigan University with assistance, recreational and cultural activities. We aim at establishing and maintaining the professional networking and of friendships among Vietnamese students and between Vietnamese students and the people of the local community. Western Model United Nations (WMUN)

We aim to bring a Model United Nations conference to WMU in order to discuss the wide range of issues that the UN addresses while developing public speaking skills and learning the parliamentary procedure. We are in our first semester and are looking for new members. All majors and minors welcome, an interest in the world around us and solving its problems is all that is necessary.
