The campus and local community gather annually to learn about and celebrate the cultures of WMU international students at the International Festival hosted by the Global Engagement Activities office.

Western Michigan University's Global Engagement Activities office facilitates regular and ongoing global engagement activities on campus, such as an International Festival and a week-long celebration of International Education Week.

The Global Engagement Activities office also plans numerous service-learning, cultural and recreational activities to help international students engage with the campus and local community.

The office is located in 2425H Ellsworth Hall 2nd floor. It is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

  • Plan and host educational, cultural, and recreational events and activities to bring together international and domestic students for mutually beneficial cultural exchange.
  • To assist international students in transitioning to U.S. university life.
  • To help international students learn about the many resources available in the Kalamazoo community.

Global Engagement Activities is subsidized by a portion of the undergraduate international student fee and the international graduate activities fee.
