Mission
- Pursue excellence in research, scholarship, and creative and teaching endeavors that provide the university and community with an in-depth, authentic experience of world languages, literatures, and cultures;
- Promote students' integration of language knowledge, helping them to develop their analytical competence in one of the human arts and sciences or a professional field;
- Serve as a locus of discipline-based study--literature, culture, linguistics, and translation-- while promoting interdisciplinary studies.
