Online Learning - Is It Right For You?

Taking a course online requires some of the same learning skills that an in-class course entails, but there are some very significant differences.

One of the major advantages of online learning is that you have the opportunity to work from home at a time when it is most convenient for you. This provides a flexible way to accommodate learning into living and incorporate assets which traditional classes do not provide, making this a positive and beneficial experience.

The traditional class, requiring you to attend on a weekly basis and keep up with the class, may require less personal discipline than online learning which requires you to carve out time in your schedule.

An online learning situation may require more homework than a traditional class. A graduate class meets 15 to 16 times for three hour class meetings. An online three credit hour course integrates that same amount of time (45 hours) plus additional time for the extensive homework.

Online learning incorporates e-mail, discussion or bulletin boards, well-developed online, and online collaboration, all of which can be of use in future work and learning situations.
