In addition to the print and online sources listed below, Westlaw Campus Research, LexisNexis, Hein Online, and many Internet sources such as FindLaw are standard seachable tools for use in locating precedent in Michigan statutory law. See direct links in Statutory Law, United States in the right hand column of this screen.

Michigan Compiled Laws

1979. (M.C.L. or Mich.Comp.Laws)
KFM 4230 1979 .A23 (Ref)
Kept up to date by Public and Local Acts of the Legislature of the State of Michigan. The codification of Michigan statutory law.

Michigan Compiled Laws Annotated

(M.C.L.A. or Mich.Comp.Laws Ann.)
KFM 4230 1948 .A44 (Ref)
Kept up to date with cumulative pocket parts. West Publishing Company's annotation of the Michigan Compiled Laws.

Michigan Statutes Annotated

(M.S.A. or Mich.Stat.Ann.)
KFM 4230 .A3x (Ref)
Kept up to date with cumulative pocket parts. Uses a different section numbering system than the M.C.L. and the M.C.L.A., so you have to use a table volume to translate from one to the other. With all three of these the number given after what appears to be a decimal, is not really a decimal. Numbers after periods should be read sequentially as a whole number, e.g., 28.34 comes before 28.127.

Public and Local Acts of the Legislature of the State of Michigan

Published annually.
KFM 4225 (Ref)
Also called the "Session Laws", because it is bound by sessions of the Michigan Legislature. Contains public acts (P.A.s).
