Encyclopedia of Forest Sciences

Covers the basic information on forestry, including biology and ecology, different types of forestry (e.g. tropical forestry and dryland forestry), scientific names of trees and shrubs, and the applied, economic, and social aspects of forest management.

Librarian's Comment: Articles relevant to paper science and imaging include the following (all by WMU professors): papermaking, world paper industry, chemical and mechanical pulping, printing, and coating.

Encyclopedia of Wood (2007)

Call number: SciRef TA 419 .W78 2007. This handy print volume is an updated version of the Wood Handbook (1999) currently available on the Web. This volume covers all engineering properties of wood: physical, mechanical, commercial, and chemical.

Kirk-Othmer encyclopedia of chemical technology

This resource contains excellent 25-35 page scholarly articles on every aspect of chemical engineering and processes.  Includes information on many related areas such as solar energy, fuel cells, and petroleum engineering.
