Well-researched index to geographic locations provides hierarchical information including continent, country, and variant spellings.

Union List of Artist Names

Searching tool for locating Web sites on artists and museums. The interface is searchable by artist name, title of work, or museum. Links users to Web sites containing images and text.

AICT Art Images for College Teaching

Site compiled by professors at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Contains images for the teaching and study of art history survey courses and much more.

Art History Resources on the Web

Created by Christopher Witcombe, professor of Art History at Sweet Briar College in Virginia, this site directs the user to Web resources by time and stylistic periods. Also includes links to museums and galleries.

AskArt

Reference tool can be searched by artist name. Gives references to books and periodicals about the artist, museums owning works by the artist, dealers, and auction records.

Mother of All Art and Art History Links

The Art History department at the University of Michigan developed this site linking users to a variety of Web art and art history sites. Includes information on art schools and departments, online exhibitions, museums, informational pages, and more.

Electronic magazine of representational art. Includes US and European exhibition information.

Tate Online

Gateway to Britain's foremost art museums.  From this site you can search the Tates Collection by artist name or work title.  Database of the collection provides descriptive text and images of works of art.

All purpose Web site for the living artist, art educator, and researcher.  Contains artist profiles, information on at suppliers, chat room, blog, and images.  Create your own artist profile and user account.
