ABI/INFORM Global restricted

An index of over 1,800 publications with abstracts, and full text from over 700 of these titles, selected from newspapers, trade publications, and journals on business including, for example, administration, economics, computers, finance, human resources, management, and marketing. Full-text of Wall Street Journal articles available from 1984. Otherwise coverage is from 1971 to the present with some older material available. Updated daily.

Librarian's Comment: Many of the articles you will find in this business database cover key industry companies and products.

AIAA Electronic Library restricted

This searchable database provides access to AIAA Meeting Papers from 1963 to present and nine AIAA Journals.

Applied Science Abstracts restricted

Basic undergraduate engineering database. It covers only English-language journals, no conferences. WMU libraries own about 60% of the titles indexed. Good first choice for engineering/technology. Coverage: 1983-present.

Article @ INIST

Articles, books, conferences, and dissertations in the catalog at the Institut de l'Information Scientifique et Technique. Most seem to be in English, but includes material from around the world.

ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Digital Library

Waldo Library subscribes to all 21 of the ASME journals both in online and print formats. Online access is from 1990 to the present.

Ei Compendex restricted

The most comprehensive index for scholarly research in engineering and applied science. Includes conference papers and foreign language material. Coverage 1969-present, updated weekly.

Energy Citations Database

Created by the Office of Scientific and Technical Information in the U.S. Government, this database provides searchable access to more than two million citations to articles, technical reports and conference papers from 1948 to the present. Many documents from 1994 onward are available in electronic format (HTML or PDF).

The Sage Full Text Materials Science Journals collection online provides you with full text access to the following list of journals.


SAE Digital Library restricted

Contains detailed summaries and citations to more than 85,000 documents, including Technical Papers and Standards, published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) since 1906. Covers research in all areas of mobility engineering including ground vehicle, aerospace, off-highway, and manufacturing technology. Includes the full text of thousands of technical reports from 1998 to present. Note that the SAE standards are not available in full text in this database.

Librarian's Comment: Technical papers from 1965-2004 are available in microfiche at Science Reference, Waldo Library. SAE standards are available in the SAE Handbook, Science Reference, TL151 .S62. You can request copies of SAE papers prior to 1998 from ILL.

Scopus restricted

Scopus is a very large abstract and indexing database primarily covering scholarly literature in science and social science. Use this to get extensive inter-disciplinary access to journal articles and also to find out which articles are being cited by other scholars. Scopus includes 14,000 peer-reviewed titles from more than 4,000 international publishers. Coverage from 1995. Tutorial

SPIN restricted

"...SPIN contains the abstracts of over 80 scientific journals published by the American Institute of Physics and its member societies since 1975, as well as selected articles from other scientific journals, totalling approximately 800,000 articles.... SPIN is updated daily. Approximately 45,000 new records are added annually. SPIN searches can be performed for a single journal or year, or across multiple journals or years."

Web of Science restricted

Contains three major databases: (1) Science Citation Index Expanded (1900-present), (2) Social Sciences Citation Index (1956-present), and (3) Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975-present). Cited Ref. Search allows users to search for articles that cite a particular author or work.Tutorial
