Surplus Sales

Western Michigan University’s Surplus Sales is responsible for the disposition of items that are no longer of use to the University.

It is important to the University that all possibilities of disposal are explored before sending anything to the landfill.  Surplus Sales accomplishes this by focusing on the following methods:

Re-use

When possible, items are re-purposed for other University departments, in lieu of purchasing new items.  Most surplus items are sold in the Surplus Sales store, which is available to the general public.  The University also uses donations to local non-profit organizations.

Recycle

When items are not in working condition or cannot be sold, the University recycles all possible components including electronics, batteries, paper/cardboard and metal.

A wide variety of items are available, including the following:

        • Computers
        • Electronics
        • Office supplies
        • Furniture
        • Much more!

Surplus Sales is located at 635 W. Ransom Street and is open to the University community (faculty, staff and students) and general public.  Follow WMU Surplus Sales on Facebook for up-to-date items and information!
