HOMEWORK:
In this course, the students will complete most of the homework online. However, there will be times where paper assignments will also be collected. Following is a list of guidelines to how assignments you turn in should look. I reserve the right to not collect/grade any assignment that does not meet all of the following.
1. Multiple page assignments must be stapled together with the pages in order.
2. Your homework must be written neatly. (If I canŐt read it, I canŐt grade it.)
3. Remove any excess fringes from papers that come out of a notebook.
4. ALL work is to be done in pencil. Work done in pen will not be accepted.
STRATEGIES:
This course is designed to stimulate your thinking, and bring you to a deeper level of understanding about algebra. You should come prepared to be involved in every class period. Do not forget that participation makes up a significant portion of your grade in this course.
All things that are assigned should be completed on time, whether or not they are to be collected. If I have given you some work to do before the next meeting, then I will guide the next class assuming you have it done. Once we have covered a topic, you are responsible for that material for the rest of the course. Mathematics is a naturally cumulative topic that develops new concepts by branching out form old ones.
Most importantly, math is not a spectator sport! In order to learn mathematics, you must be involved in it. Make sure you stay on top of your coursework. If you are having trouble with any material, do not wait to ask for help! You will want to make sure you have a concept down before trying to move on to the next one. This is the heart of why participation and practice is such a vital key to success in math.
