METL Switches

Switches are used as adaptive equipment in many different areas in a person's life. Switches can be used to control a computer, a wheelchair, toys, or the home/office environment. When switches are used in conjunction with software programs such as WiVik®, they allow an individual a method of input to the computer. Switches come in many different types and styles to fit the exact needs of the individual. Some of the switches found in METL are:

Big Buddy Happy Go Lucky Switch

Big Buddy is a colorful single switch that is activated by pressing anywhere. Big Buddy is suitable for individuals who need a large colorful switch.

Big Red Switch

Big Red is a 5" round single switch that is activated by pressing anywhere on the top surface. For ease of use, it has been designed with auditory feedback.

Leaf Switch

Leaf switches are activated by pressing lightly against the leaf in one direction. They utilize both tactile and auditory feedback.

L.T. Switch

The L.T. Switch is a very sensitive general purpose switch.

Plate Switch

Plate switches utilize a very thin membrane that may be activated using a very light touch.

Specs Switch

Specs switches may be placed anywhere or attached to or around anything and are very versatile.

Zygo Switch Kit

The Zygo Switch Kit contains several different types of switches and may be used to evaluate which switch is best for an individual and his or her specific needs. This kit includes tread, leaf, pneumatic with squeeze ball, thumb, short leaf, lever, and lolly switches. Also included is a buzzer that provides feedback during switch evaluation and assessment. This kit is helpful for those wishing to become familiar with adaptive switches.
