Summer Programs
The GUCD Program has offered various types of summer programs.
This past summer of 2011 we offered two Summer College Tours. Within a period of 4 days, students toured universities on the east side of the state of Michigan like Lake Superior State University, Saginaw Valley State University, Oakland University, Wayne State University, and the University of Michigan. Other activities included visiting Mackinac Island, the African American Museum of Washtenaw County, and Binder Park Zoo.
Prior to the tours, GUCD offered the Summer Academies, where students visited Western Michigan University’s campus for a week and stayed overnight in a residence hall. The Summer Flight Academy, Summer Engineering Academy, Summer Health Academy, the Summer Fine Arts Academy, and the Summer Business Academy exposed the students to all aspects of the related academy field through a variety of hands-on activities, workshops, and tours. Students also received information about college admissions, financial aid, and campus life.
