
The Martin Luther King Jr. Academy is a four-tier comprehensive program designed to offer academic, social, and professional development support and services that assist program participants from the first year through graduation. Each tier is designed to address particular development milestones associated with that phase of each student's matriculation.
1st Year - Exploring: Academic progress review by a professional staff person, coaching by an upperclass student, one-on-one tutoring, intergration into campus life, as well as diversity, cultural, and wellness programs.
2nd Year - Defining: In addition to the above first-year services, students focus on major declaration, career and internship, study abroad, and service learning exploration.
3rd Year - Researching: Students are engaged in research exploration, senior project preparation, career search, internship, study abroad and service learning experience, and graduate school exploration.
4th Year - Implementing: Focus is on graduation and audit preparation, graduate school application, senior projection/practicum completion, and interview preparation.
