Master of Music:
Final Application

Application for full admission into the MA in Music:

The following are the application requirements for entering the final-year of the Master's degree:

  1. Successful completion of Bachelor of Music degree (or Bachelor of Arts in Music)
  2. A minimum GPA of 3.00.
  3. A minimum of 9 graduate credit hours in music, including Mus 6100 (or equivalent), with no grade less than a 'B'.
  4. A portfolio of three scholarly papers (from previous coursework) which demonstrate the ability to conduct research and write at a level appropriate for a Master's Thesis.
  5. A Master's Thesis proposal which discusses the thesis topic.
  6. Outline of the coursework completed to date and the remaining courses to be taken to prepare for the thesis and complete the degree. Worksheet template
  7. A Thesis Advisor's signature in support of the proposal. You thesis advisor will serve as the Chair of your Thesis Committee must be a Full member of the Graduate Faculty.

A formal application form is being prepared and will be posted here as soon as it is available. Applications should be submitted to Academic Area by October 15 or February 15 in the final semester of the undergraduate degree (i.e., the semester before entering the graduate program). It is recommended that they seek out a Thesis advisor the semester before this to ensure adequate time to prepare the proposal.
