The School of Music houses two computer labs open to the general student population of WMU. The main computer lab is located in Dalton 2109, and it houses 19 music workstations, a printing station and a scanning station. Each of the music workstations is comprised of a new Intel-based iMac computer with 24” monitor and a Korg Triton keyboard. The software available in this lab includes MS Office, iLife, Logic Express, Band in a Box 12, Sibelius 5.0, Pyware 3D Marching Band Drill software, Dreamweaver 8, Adobe Photoshop, and other multimedia applications. The lab is also used for classes in music technology.
The “keyboard” lab is located next to the computer lab in Dalton 2107. This lab has 16 music workstations including iMacs and Kurzweil P88 keyboards. The primary function of the keyboard lab is for group piano instruction, but during busy times of the semester it is also used as an open lab.
The music computer lab is generally open to students, and a lab monitor is present to assist with questions. Sometimes the lab is closed for teaching music technology classes.
