Undergraduate Music Application

Applications to the School of Music are submitted through the Music Admissions Portal for all undergraduate degrees (BA, BM, and BS). This is a separate process from your general application to Western Michigan University.  By following the links below, you will be instructed how to self-enroll in the portal. Once enrolled, you will be able to log in to WMU's Elearning system, enter the Music Admissions Portal,  and complete an online Music Application form by following the indicated link.  Your Music Application is used to schedule the date you will attend New Student Admissions Day (for on-campus testing, interviews, and/or auditions) and provide information about your intended degree, major, and contact information.

Within the Admissions Portal you can read additional information about admission day schedules, posts questions on our discussion board and take a demo quiz to acquaint you with the testing process. As part of your New Student Admissions Day at Western Michigan University's School of Music, you will be required to complete assessment tests in music theory and aural skills. Two of these will be administered online through the audition portal. (A third, aural skills performance assessment will be conducted live with a School of Music faculty member.)

To enroll in the Music Admissions Portal, please select one of the following options:

  • New user
If you have never taken a course at Western or been issued a Bronco NetID (username), you need to enroll as a new guest user with your personal email address.
  • Existing user
If you already have a Bronco NetID (e.g., your.name@wmich.edu) from your WMU admission or a previous course, you should enroll as an existing user.
