Carolyn Koebel, MT-BC, is an adjunct professor in music therapy at WMU and functions as both a classroom instructor and clinical supervisor for undergraduate students’ clinical practicum work.
She received her undergraduate degrees in music therapy and percussion studies from Western Michigan University, where she was named the Presidential Scholar for the School of Music. She went on to earn her Master’s in Music Therapy from Michigan State, receiving the prestigious graduate Merit Fellowship for her work specializing in the use of drumming for health and healing.
In addition to maintaining an active performance schedule as a professional percussionist, she has teamed up with three colleagues to create Music Therapy Drumming, a national percussion training program designed for the working clinician. She works in hospice music therapy, and a variety of other contractual settings including at-risk youth and wellness populations.
