KALAMAZOO—High school seniors are invited to check out one of the nation's top-100 public universities during three open houses at Western Michigan University this fall.

Students are asked to pre-register online for the free Friday events Oct. 26, Nov. 9 and Nov. 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Bernhard Center on WMU's main campus in Kalamazoo. Seniors who have yet to apply to the University can receive an admission decision at the event by signing up for on-site admission when registering and bringing the requested paperwork to the open house. Admission decisions will be provided during individual appointments that will be set up with an admissions counselor.

Each open house begins with check-in at 8:30 a.m. A welcome by President John M. Dunn and remarks by other officials will follow from 9:30 to 10 a.m. The University showcase of services, organizations and activities available to students will be open from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Guided tours and informational presentations will take place at various times during the day.

Opportunities at the open house

  • Visit a residence hall and other key facilities
  • Eat lunch in a campus dining hall
  • Learn more about academic programs offered
  • Get the facts on financial aid and scholarships
  • Hear about living on campus

Special afternoon tours of the University's Lee Honors College and seven academic colleges also will be held from 2 to 4 p.m.

Attendees will have the flexibility to go to presentations and take tours that will be most beneficial to them. Parking is free, and a parking pass will be provided at check-in or if time allows, sent in the mail.

University representatives also regularly visit schools throughout Michigan and in some areas of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. A complete schedule of high school visits is available at wmich.edu/admissions/freshmen/visitingyou.
