Named after a barnyard fungus that propels its spores with extraordinary speed, accuracy and strength, Pilobolus was founded by a group of Dartmouth College students in 1971. The company is known for forming diverse collaborations that break down barriers between disciplines.
Pilobolus has been featured on prominent platforms including at the 79th annual Academy Awards, Sesame Street, Oprah, 60 Minutes and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. The group has garnered many honors, including the Berlin Critic's Prize, a Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding achievement in cultural programming and a TED Fellowship for presenting at the TED conference in 2005.
Pilobolus also holds the 2011 Guinness World Record for fitting the most people into a Mini Cooper, at 26. To learn more about the group, visit pilobolus.org.

Pilobolus will offer several educational opportunities while they are in Kalamazoo. In partnership with the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency's Education for the Arts program, school performances will take place at Miller Auditorium April 15-16, presenting the creative talents of Pilobolus to thousands of area K-8 students. There will also be a master class—led by Pilobolus company members—for WMU and Education for the Arts dance students at 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, in the Dalton Center's Multimedia Room on WMU's campus. Members of the public are welcome to observe the master class.
This engagement is supported by the Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest, which is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts with additional contributions from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
