KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The election of officers for 2015 and a motion to change the terms of a lease agreement top the agenda when the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees convenes for its formal annual meeting Thursday, Jan. 22.

The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. in 157-159 Bernhard Center. The formal annual meeting is the time for the board to select its officers for the year.

Also on the agenda is a recommendation to alter terms of a lease agreement between the University and the WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. The recommended change would allow the medical school to begin developing the fourth and sixth floors of its W.E. Upjohn M.D. campus in downtown Kalamazoo for use in the expansion of its research efforts. The current lease calls for the floors to remain vacant until either the University or medical school needs the space.

During the meeting, trustees also will receive and be asked to approve reports covering personnel moves, receipt of gifts and grants, changes to academic programs and a number of other administrative items. In addition, the board is expected to set its remaining 2015 meeting dates.
