KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The WMU Alert emergency notification system is now available for the University's multiple regional locations.

An enhancement to the system that makes access to alerts available for WMU's eight regional locations was activated Jan. 12. The alerts are designed to notify members of the WMU community to emergencies and campus closures.

According to Cam Vossen, WMU emergency management administrator, WMU students and employees can pick up to two Extended University Programs sites in addition to the WMU main campus, and register to receive alerts from those locations. All WMU Alert recipients receive main campus alerts.

When those registered for alerts receive emergency and closure information, she says, the Caller ID on their phones will reflect the location for which the alert is being posted.

WMU Alert for the main campus was launched in 2010. More than 20,000 people are now registered to receive alerts.
