KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University employees and retirees are invited to attend a two-day open house this week at the Student Recreation Center and check out the benefits of becoming a member of the center.

The event is being held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 20-21. Attendees may take a tour, pick up information about available services, and bring workout clothes so they can try out those services.

Benefits-eligible faculty members as well as nonbargaining staff members may activate their SRC membership and pay nothing more than the taxes on $270. Retirees, as well as their spouses, may join the SRC at no cost, but they must come to the center's main office to activate their memberships.

Memberships started now will run through Jan. 8, 2017. A a convenient way to maintain a healthy lifestyle, they allow members to use the SRC Monday through Sunday anytime the building is open.

To activate a membership, visit wmich.edu/rec/facilities/access and click the appropriate membership-form tab under Memberships, then follow the instructions for completing and submitting the form. Information about all of the SRC's membership categories may be accessed by clicking the Membership categories tab.
