Dawn M. Nelson, a former employee in the Grants and Contracts office at Western Michigan University, died Sept. 21 at home in Paw Paw, Michigan. She was 44.
Nelson joined the WMU staff in 1993 and left in August after 24 years of service to the University. She was a senior restricted fund accountant in Grants and Contracts, which primarily oversees the financial administration of externally funded grants and contracts received by WMU.
Although born in Kalamazoo, Nelson grew up in nearby Comstock and graduated from Comstock High School. She went on to double major at WMU, earning a bachelor's degree in social psychology and accounting.
