The Oaklands Staircase

The Oaklands, Western Michigan University's bed and breakfast

The Oaklands is a smoke free environment available to Western Michigan University faculty and staff for University and non-University related events. Originally built in 1869, the Oaklands is a showcase for the WMU Campus. It is beautifully decorated and provides a relaxing atmosphere for its guests. We do not have the facilities to accommodate those with mobility challenges.

The Parlor & Dining Room

The Parlor & Dining Room are the pulic areas of the Oaklands, and consist of a sitting room, living room with a baby grand piano, solarium, and elegant dining room. Guests enter through a formal foyer and are greeted by the towering spiral staircase (seen at right). Consider these ambient surroundings for your next reception, meeting, or intimate meal.

Overnight Accomodations

Climb the beautiful spiral staircase to the upper level of The Oaklands — a private area for overnight guests only. This level includes two sitting rooms, and three bedrooms, all of which feature attached baths:

Each suite features cable television, telephone, access to the business center and free high-speed WiFi. On-site parking is available for your convenience. A complimentary continental breakfast is also included for overnight guests. Guests are welcome to help themselves at any time to a variety of breads, bagels, cereals, fresh fruits, juices and yogurts.
