The Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Manufacturing) is a one-of-a-kind, cooperative undergraduate degree program offered by WMU and several regional community colleges. Contrary to popular belief, there is job demand in manufacturing and the B.S.E. program produces the kind of qualified graduates sought by employers.
WMU designed the program with several community colleges and several manufacturers throughout the region. Students take approximately half of the credits at WMU and half at a local community college, while getting valuable exposure to local employers seeking program graduates.
The B.S.E. degree will serve students interested in the manufacturing industries of Southwest Michigan. The program provides students with skills that are demanded by manufacturers in automotive, metal working, plastics, paper, aerospace, furniture, appliances and other industries.
The B.S.E. program was specifically designed in partnership with regional manufacturers in the Muskegon, Battle Creek, Benton Harbor and Lansing areas. Throughout the program, students have opportunities to interact with various companies throughout the region.
