Nine million children and teens ages 6-19 are overweight; and obesity is the #2 cause of preventable death in the United States. (Get America Fit Foundation).
Be a part of the solution. The Master of the Arts Physical Education program (with a focus on Pedagogy) at Western Michigan University provides students with a comprehensive physical education immersion experience, and prepares them to emerge as experts in the field.
This online program from WMU's Department of Human Performance and Health Education connects students with a community of physical education professionals. (There are some face-to-face meetings required, but they can be arranged at a college campus near to you.)
You can begin your program with your Michigan State Teacher Certification or you can earn it while you study. You can satisfy the majority of the requirements for your Physical Education – Pedagogy (MA) degree and your teacher certification from the comfort of your home.
Teachers who wish to gain credentials to teach physical education or individuals with a related bachelor's degree who are interested in becoming a physical education teacher in private or public schools should apply.
This degree, paired with Michigan Teacher Certification, prepares you to teach physical education courses at public and private schools, as well as preparing you for teacher supervision positions related to this field.
