This course develops competence in the use of professional assessment, which measure the performance components that underlay human function, including neuromuscular, neuromotor, sensori motor, and cognitive.
Relationship to curriculum design
Discovery of targeted information will be facilitated through structured didactic content and lab activities. Students will have the opportunity to apply information, techniques, and procedures of targeted assessment. Finally, students will integrate knowledge of assessment data and its relationship to an intervention plan. The students will be evaluated on the Screen, Evaluate and Refer Competency as follows: The competent occupational therapy graduate selects and uses relevant screening and assessment methods, obtains sufficient and necessary information from relevant sources, interprets evaluation results, and refers to specialists (both internal and external to the profession) for consultation and intervention.
