becoming a new standard for storing digital images. Initially intended for
consumers but also adopted by publishers.
Supported by Photoshop, PageMaker,
InDesign, QuarkXPress, Illustrator, FreeHand, etc. The image below was
placed into PageMaker from a file on the PageMaker CD.
Stored in YCC format discussed earlier.
Kodak’s Photo CD film scanner can
scan positives or negatives, convert to YCC, compress and store as PCD.
Supports densities up to 2.8.
A Photo CD image is stored as an
image pac which contains information necessary for 5 resolutions. These
vary from 192 x 128 for display to 3074 x 2048 for printing. See Table
5-1.
Pro Photo CD supports 6144 x 4096
(72 MB) is intended for professionals as opposed to consumers.
