Dr. Kline received his
doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering in 1993 from Michigan Technological University. He joined the
Western Michigan University Department of Paper Engineering,
Chemical Engineering, and Imaging in 2001 as an assistant professor.
He was previously employed as a senior research engineer and
Instructor at Michigan Technological University, and as a post-doctoral
associate at Cornell University.
Dr. Kline has published over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings in the areas of materials science, physical property measurement and estimation, engineering process design, engineering education, and service-learning in engineering. His current research efforts in engineering and service-learning education are unded by grants from the National Science Foundation and Learn and Serve America.
