Upcoming Events
Hello everyone! Just a few notes for you!
First, please please please make sure to pay your dues! We can’t do as much fun stuff if you don’t pay! Remember, we always provide food from our funds for meetings and we pay for things like bowling from the dues we collect. Also, you cannot vote for officers if you do not pay your dues!
Second, you may have noticed a new section at the top of the website. We’re going to start placing job postings because we want you to be employed in the industry! This is not meant to be a complete compendium of wanted listings, or meant to replace BroncoJobs. We’re only posting these to help inform you. All of us officers and Nikki encourage you to use BroncoJobs for all of your employment needs.
Third, there’s a few upcoming events. There is a Nalco information meeting Thursday, November 13th at Gallagher’s on Stadium (in front of K-Mart). To go, RVSP to Andrew so we know how many people will be coming. There is Officer elections on Monday, November

Networking is something T’sai Lun is perfect for this. From industry speakers to resumé workshops, not to mention making valuable friends. Active T’sai Lun members get the best picks for internships and get free trips to places, like the TAPPI Student Summit in January. T’sai Lun members get a distinct advantage when you do apply for internships and later, your first job after graduating. T’sai Lun makes you stand out of the crowd, to help you get that job. But, we’re not all business. We like to have our fun to! We have and annual bowling night at Harpo’s and this year, there will be a Homecoming tailgate. Plus, there’s usually free dinner at meetings. Verso Presentation
At our last meeting on April 17th, we had a wonderful speaker from Verso, Mr. Ricky Loveland. He gave a wonderful presentation about working in the Paper industry, like what companies look for in potential employees and what you should look for in a company. Some good points to remember
Make yourself standout
Be a leader
Be approachable
Don’t sell yourself short
Learn to like people
Also, there was an iPod giveaway. 4 iPods were given away. The winners are pictured above. From left to right President Matt Shadley, Brian Stone (iPod nano), Andrew Loveland (iPod nano), Tyler Ramseyer (iPod Shuffle), and Phil Slesinski (iPod Shuffle).
Also, we encourage all members of T’sai Lun to submit membership to TAPPI. As a member, you get access to the TAPPI/PIMA student chapter network, a TAPPI scholarship guide, access to an industry job bank, access to industry sponsored events and it looks good on a resume. There will be more about this coming up this fall.

A few things from your new secretary
I have just a few small housekeeping things to take care of. First, officers, I need a picture of your pretty face. You can either send me one you have or I’ll be taking one of my own at the next meeting.
Second, if anyone has pictures of T’sai Lun or related events, like the recent New Page tour and would like to see them on the website, please send them my way! Please, if you do send me pictures, send them as a compressed file, either a .zip or .rar file extension.
Third, there is a blood drive coming up. Please, come out and give blood if possible! You can help save up to 3 lives with one donation! The drive is located in the student societies room and goes from 11 to 5.
See you next meeting!
