Digital Typography and Fonts

The most common problem with printed jobs is related to fonts.

If the font specified in the document is not available, then the printer driver substitutes a default font, with unexpected results.

Traditional - When type was crafted out of lead, the phrase “tons of fonts” was literal.

Transporting a large type library was impractical. Now we complain if the font library doesn’t fit on a floppy.
