Faculty

Dr. Margaret Joyce, associate professor and course program chair. Margaret is a member of the graduate faculty and director of the Center for Coating Development for WMU. Current areas of research include printed electronics, curtain coating, nanotechnology, barrier coatings, and printability. Dr. Joyce will present information covering additives, formulation, designing paper for printability, printing methods, and laboratory methods.

Charles P. Klass, adjunct professor, Western Michigan University and president, Klass Associates. Chuck has over 40 years of paper industry experience include mill technical and operating positions; editorial experience, and technical service/sales/marketing management positions. In 1986 he became a consultant to the paper industry specializing in coating, surface sizing and development of value-added papers. Mr. Klass will present information covering current and future trends, coated grades, and details on the different processes and equipment used to coat paper or board.
