December 4, 2009
Dear Colleagues:
Many of you are now making your holiday plans. As you set the schedule around your final day at work before holiday closure, please plan on an extra half-day to spend with family and friends.
The current University calendar calls for offices to remain open until 5 p.m. Dec. 24. After consultation with others, I have decided to amend that schedule and begin closure at noon Thursday, Dec. 24.
This represents an additional half-day of closure. It is one small way for us to say “thank you” for your efforts to help our students succeed and your hard work that allows our University to prosper and move steadily forward. The extra half-day will give you more time to be with your loved ones and will allow the University to initiate its utility savings a bit earlier.
Please accept my best wishes for a relaxing and joyful holiday season—and one that is just a bit longer than you originally planned. University offices will reopen Monday, Jan. 4, as previously announced. I look forward to our new year together as a University community.
Best regards,
John M. Dunn
President
