The department of psychology offers many opportunities for undergraduates to help with research projects, either by participating as subjects, or as research assistants. The following pages will provide you with project descriptions and contact information for researchers in the psychology department.
| If you would like to participate as a subject | If you would like to assist with a research project |
| Participant Recruitment | Research Assistance |
There are several ways to find out about participation opportunities. Often, researchers will come to various undergraduate classes to announce that they are seeking potential participants. You can also seek out opportunities on your own by looking for psychological research flyers. The bulletin board in Wood Hall 2124 typically has several different studies posted on it. Come in during advising hours to see what research opportunities are available. |
Many investigators are looking for undergraduates to serve as research assistants each semester. In some cases, students may earn Psy 3980 (Independent Study) credit for their assistance. If you are interested in getting a research assistant position, check bulletin boards around Wood Hall for advertisements or contact faculty members to see if they are currently looking for assistance. |
Signing up for PSY 3980 gives you the opportunity to work with a research team and receive feedback and supervision while developing critical research skills. To make the process as easy as possible, you should follow the steps outlined below.
It is a good idea to start this process early. Getting the paperwork done will alleviate any problems with tuition bills, financial aid and last minute panic! If you have any questions, feel free to email the Undergraduate Advisors.
