Darin came to Western Michigan in July 2010 after spending two years working for the Department of Recreational Services at the University of Connecticut. The position at WMU was a natural fit for Darin, as he was encouraged to be back in the Midwest. Growing up in a small town (Algona, Iowa), sports played a major role in his life. He started working as a sports official as a freshman at the University of Northern Iowa. Now working as an intramural sports professional, it is easy to see his passion for the recreation field.

In his free time, Darin enjoys playing basketball and golf. You will see him working out regularly at the SRC or running around campus training for his next race. He also loves spending time with his friends and family.

Darin's favorite quote is one he lives by: "We do not stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing."
