WMU’s employee wellness program is managed by University Recreation for all benefit’s-eligible faculty, staff and their spouses as well as retirees. The program includes group exercise, specialty events, classes, activities, lap swimming and more! Check the website for a current listing of classes and programs and how to get started. Memberships to the Student Recreation Center are available as a taxable benefit for benefits-eligible faculty and staff. Other classifications of WMU employees can purchase a membership at the current rate for the semester. For more information on Student Recreation Center memberships, please visit our memberships page.
Staff is available to provide an orientation to the equipment or facilities. To schedule an orientation, receive a facility tour or inquire about membership options, please contact either the Student Recreation Center at (269) 387-3115.
Fitness classes & programs
Group exercise classes are available to all Western Wellness participants. Classes are available on a drop-in basis. Participants may attend more than one class format and may choose any combination of days and times to participate. Prior to participating, all participants must have a physical activity readiness questionnaire and participation agreement on file.
Thank you for your support of the group fitness classes at the SRC. Moving forward, ALL group fitness classes will now be available to Western Wellness participants for a small fee. We hope that this encourages participation in all class offerings, not just a select few. Please see Summer I and Summer II pricing for more information.

Physical activity readiness questionnaire

If you have two or more risk factors, are over the age of 45 or have any symptoms of cardiovascular disease as indicated by the PAR-Q, then a medical clearance form signed by your personal physician will be necessary before participating in the Zest for Life program. Please download the medical clearance form and return to the rec center main office.
