New Schedule view

Both students and advisors now have access to a new, concise student schedule view through GoWMU. Students, or advisors, can view and print a condensed student schedule on one page.

The week-at-a-glance and detailed student schedule views are still available.

FERPA question of the week

True or False: The FERPA rules regarding disclosure of information apply at all times, even in an emergency situation.

Summer I

In preparation for the start of Summer I, please ensure that all course offerings have an instructor of record in Banner. Note that census for Summer I will be taken the evening of May 12.

FERPA answer:

False.  If non-directory information is needed to resolve a crisis or emergency situation, an educational institution may release that information if the institution determines that the information is ‘necessary to protect the health or safety of the student or other individuals.’

This is taken from the AACRAO FERPA guide, 2006, and references the regulations themselves.

There is current legislation pending to further clarify issues surrounding the release of information in emergency situations. I will keep you posted.

Upcoming Dates

• April 21 – 25 – Final exam week
• April 26 – Commencement
• April 29 – Grades due at noon
• May 5 – Summer I classes begin at 8:00 am
• May 9 – Last day for drop/adds for Summer I
• May 12 – Department clean-up day, last day departments have access to change student schedules.
• May 16 - Last day to receive 50% tuition refund for a complete withdrawal from all Summer I courses.
• May 26 – Memorial Day recess – no classes
• May 30 - Last day to receive 25% tuition refund for a complete withdrawal from all Summer I courses.
• June 2 – last day to withdraw from Summer I courses
• June 9 - Spring 2009 master schedule due on Student Information System by departments. Galley corrections due a Registrar's Office
• June 25 – Summer I classes end
• June 28 - Commencement
• July1 – Summer I grades due at noon
