Fall 2014 Schedule Edits
The deadline for departments to make Fall 2014 schedules changes in Banner has been extended. The new deadline is Wednesday, November 27 at noon. If you have schedule building questions or need assistance, please contact Laura Thomas at email@example.com.
Degree Works can be used for more than just monitoring a student's progress toward degree completion. It can be used to help support student services. As you can see below, Degree Works provides several pieces of information on a student in one consolidated location. You would need to go to to five different screens in Banner to find all the information located on the on the main Degree Works page. In addition, Degree Works lists if the student has applied for graduation and displays the student's photo. The student photo can be used to verify the student's identity or to personalize the student's experience.
Anyone with Banner access can receive access to Degree Works by submitting a Degree Works security access form located in GoWMU under the Student Systems Security Access Center.
FERPA and a Student's Right to Inspect and Review
Under FERPA, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, current and former students have the right to inspect and review their education records. Some limitations exist including financial information submitted by the parents and records that contain information about another student.
FERPA does not state that students have the right to receive a copy of their records, but requires that the University provide students with the ability to view their records within a reasonable period of time. FERPA defines this as no more than 45 calendar days after the request has been received. Students wishing to exercise their right review their education records under FERPA should be directed to the Registrar's Office.
