As the former dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, provost and vice president for academic affairs, and president (interim) of Western Michigan University, Dr. Dan Litynski brings great leadership skills to his post as vice president of research.
Litynski is a professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Active for over 25 years in research and teaching in electrical engineering, optics and physics, Litynski remains active in laser and electro-optic research. He has authored or co-authored international conference presentations, technical papers, book chapters and holds a patent in these subjects and in educational pedagogy.
A brigadier general (retired), Litynski held various positions at the United States Military Academy, including research officer. In addition, he served three years with the National Science Foundation as a program director (physics) and as acting division director for undergraduate education through the Intergovernmental Personnel Act.
