Proposal Approval Forms

The Office of the Vice President for Research oversees the development and submission of external funding proposals and has sole authority for submitting such proposals on behalf of the University. Such authority is described in the Policy for Signature Authority on Grant and Contracts.

A proposal approval form (PAF) that summarizes the project activities, personnel, budget, and other characteristics of the proposal is required for all external funding proposals and contracts. The PAF is also used to document principal investigator acknowledgement of University regulations and approval for submission of the proposal by University officials.

Effective March 7, 2011 the PAF is available as web-based application. Only proposals submitted via the web-based format will be accepted.

  • To use the web-based form, log on to the OVPR Grant Management Center. (PAF/Bucksheet) Provide the information requested. When you've completed the form, select the route/approval function. Your PAF will be circulated automatically through the signature protocol procedure for your unit.

Please note that WMU policy states that "Users who connect remotely to University systems that contain confidential/restricted data are required by University policy to use the campus Virtual Private Network (VPN) portal to maintain security of the University's data." Download the VPN Software

For more information about the new web-based PAF, call OVPR at 269-387-8270 or contact your research officer.
