Counseling Services

Counseling Services

Hello. We're pleased to meet you!

Counseling Services provides short-term individual and group counseling for all eligible WMU students. Counseling is provided by licensed mental health professionals and supervised graduate student trainees.

To best meet the needs of as many students as possible, a short-term counseling model has been established. Services are individualized based on your personal needs. The number of visits varies from student to student (typically 6 to 8 sessions). Some students may need to see a counselor just one or two times and others may need to see a counselor over a longer period of time. The student and counselor will work together to develop a treatment plan that best meets the student’s needs based on the nature of the concerns presented.

Those students who may need longer-term services may receive assistance in a referral to other university or community providers.
