“I’m really into sign language and I know Western doesn’t have a sign-language club at the moment,” says Ashley.
Wait-something Western doesn’t have? Why would we tout that? Ashley, who has yet to take a single class, has already begun talking to the right people about starting such a club. She says Western is very open and encouraging and can’t wait to get this club going.
This goes along with how Ashley felt when she first stepped on campus: welcomed by “everyone and everything.” And when she was originally interested in occupational therapy, she spoke with some faculty in that field and found she’d be better suited elsewhere in the health & human services program. Ashley is a part of Lee Honors College and will be majoring in biomedical sciences on a pre-med program.
WMU faculty’s honesty and genuine care for its students were a huge influence on Ashley’s decision to attend. To put it in her words, “Everyone should just come be a Bronco.”
