When Joe was in sixth grade, it became abundantly clear he had a brain for engineering. There he was, standing on the podium, looking up at the competitors he defeated in the egg-drop competition. That’s right—looking up. He was so much younger than the other participants, they still towered over him despite being on lower pedestals.
Thus began his path to the aeronautical engineering program at Western Michigan University. Joe has always been fascinated by airplanes and how they work.
WMU was the only place that had the program Joe wanted. He says being around others in his program will help challenge him to be even better and push the limits of aeronautical engineering.
As to why he chose WMU, Joe sums it up nicely: “I chose Western because they had the courses I wanted and I felt were the best fit for me.”
