Bio

Antonio López-Peláez is a Full Professor of Social Work and Social Services at the Department of Social Work, Faculty of Law, in Spain’s National University for Distance Education (UNED), the largest Public University in the country (www.uned.es).  He holds a PhD in Philosophy and Sociology. His research interests include:  analysis of social problems, methods of social intervention, and intersections of new technologies and social work. He is director of Comunitania: International Journal of Social Work and Social Sciences (www.comunitania.com) and member of the editorial board of prestigious journals in his field of research. He has numerous publications in prestigious academic publishers such as Oxford University Press, Springer, Thomson/Reuters-Aranzadi, Tecnos, Espasa, Alianza Editorial, etc.  He has published articles in international scientific journals such as: Qualitative Social Work: Research and Practice, International Journal of Social Welfare, Social Security Studies, Social Epistemology, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, The IPTS Report, Revista Internacional de Sociología, Sociología del Trabajo, Sistema, and Arbor. He has directed doctoral dissertations and research projects with public funding from both Spanish and European institutions. He is principal investigator of the Research Group Koinonía, an interdisciplinary research team on Social Work and Social Services, Social Sciences, History and Law (www.koinonia.org.es). He is a spokesman for all Full Professors at UNED’s Senate (2010-2014/2014-2018). Outside the academic world, he is a contributing member of the Abracadabra Foundation: Solidarity Magicians.
