Research interests
Role making: the construction of personal behavior within the constraints of role expectations, effects of identity and self-awareness on interpersonal behavior, and meanings conveyed by aural and visual components of music video.
Bio
Robert Wait is concerned with extending and testing the interactionist theory of G. H. Mead, using a variety of quantitative and qualitative methodologies. His major interests are in how a person's meanings are organized in relation to his or her positions in various social orders, and in how a complex self develops in relation to the perspectives and interaction patterns available in families and organizations.
