The Department of Sociology at Western Michigan University offers internship opportunities which help prepare students for graduate school or careers in sociology and criminal justice.

Application process

  1. All students must arrange an individual interview with Dr. Zoann Snyder, Criminal Justice Program Director. The interview must be arranged directly with Snyder via email at and will take about 20 minutes. The deadline to apply for summer and fall 2018 has passed.

  2. Students must bring a copy of their resume to their interview.
  3. At the conclusion of the interview, students will be given access to an actual application and information about the required supporting documentation. Please note that the internship application materials are newly redesigned and the old application form will not be accepted.

You will also be required to attend a one hour workshop which will address resume and cover letter writing and practice interviews. The workshops for spring 2019 intern applicants will be determined at a later date.

If you are interested in doing an internship for spring 2019 you must meet with Dr. Zoann Snyder by September 28, 2018. (See application process above.)
